71 km of hiking and packrafting over Gillespie Pass and out the Wilkin valley. This was a big 3 days on the legs with heavy packs!
Day 1: Makarora to Young Basin Day 2: Young Basin to Siberia Stream with a side loop to Crucible Lake Day 3: Packraft Siberia Stream (I+/III-), and Wilkin River (I+) back to Makarora River Hitch-hike back to the car.
If I do this loop again I’d opt to stay in Young hut and Siberia Stream hut instead of camp, so that my pack is a bit lighter going over the pass!
